Rodney Gould

GOULD, Rodney Arthur .  Rodney Gould (born 1944, Banbury, Oxfordshire), started his career racing a BSA 350ce Gold Star in a Bemsee production event at Silverstone in 1961. He later rode 350cc and 500cc Nortons before switching

to Yamaha and gaining a place in the Yamaha factory team. His first season as a full time professional was in 1967. Prominent on both home and Grand Prix circuits during the mid and later 1960s, Gould was also to compete for Yamaha in 500cc, 350cc and 250cc events.

Rodney Gould became 250ce World Champion on a Yamaha in 1970 and took the works Yamaha to second place in the 1972 250cc TT. He retired from racing in October 1972 to take up the position located in Amsterdam of publicity manager for Yamaha in Europe. He later set up a motor-cycle business in Britain in partnership with Mike Hailwood.
